Writing code is a lot like creative writing (which I did in long gone past life). I like how Paul Graham and Scott Berkun get this. You take a lot of ideas that already exist, build upon them, and stitch them together into something you can call your own.
I'm in this line of work because I truly enjoy it and I hope to someday be considered a "hacker" or a "craftsman" in the oldest sense of the words.
I created an XQuery component for Alex Gorbatchev's SyntaxHighlighter, which you see in use with my XQuery snippets on my blog.
I've asked Alex to add it to the download package, but you can also download it from my site. This was my first open source contribution.
